Test Tag Colours

Test Tags For Site Use

There are four test tag colours that are used on a 3 monthly basis across New Zealand, red, green, blue and yellow. These  are recommended in Appendix F of AS/NZS 3012:2010 (in the 2019 version  Appendix D) In both versions, this appendix is an "informative" part of  the standard to which it is a part of. This means it is not mandatory to  do this, in order to comply with the standard. That said, many principal contractors  insist that test tags affixed to tools when they are being tested and tagged for use on their sites follow this  guide.

          Red- Dec, Jan Feb

         Green- March, April, May
         Blue- June, July, August

         Yellow- Sept, Oct, November

When our Christchurch PAT service is tagging tools and leads for site use, they are tagged in accordance with this code, we take it a step further. If we have to  "fail" an item being tested, we use a fluro pink stripped tag overlay to  highlight the item should not be used until it has been repaired
